A Huge Thank You to 100 Men of Kawartha Lakes!

We want to express our heartfelt gratitude to the 100 Men of Kawartha Lakes for their incredible generosity. Your generous donation to the Wild WYRE Robotics Team at I. E. Weldon Secondary School in Lindsay, ON, will make a significant impact on our students and their journey in robotics.

Our team operates entirely as an extracurricular activity. After school and on weekends, students come together to design, manufacture, code, build, and fundraise—all while learning valuable skills in teamwork, problem-solving, and innovation. Your support helps make this possible.

The excitement is building as we prepare for the upcoming season! The 2025 season kicks off on January 4th, when we will learn the details of the competition challenges. From there, we will have almost two months to design and build our robot before our first challenge at Durham College in March. After that, we’ll be headed to North Bay for our second pre-qualifying match before moving on to Provincials and then possibly worlds! It’s going to be an incredible journey, and your support plays a big part in our success!

Thank you once again for listening to our plea and supporting our team. We look forward to making you proud as we continue to grow and push boundaries in robotics. If you would like to know more about how robotics works and the FIRST Robotics program, please visit firstinspires.org.

Sincerely,
The Wild WYRE 8731 Robotics Team

Dear friends at 100 Men Kawartha Lakes,

Thank you so much for taking the time to support Kawartha Lakes Food Source! Without community-led food drives, fundraisers, and public events and donations, we would be unable to continue to provide the services we do.

Our deepest gratitude goes out to you for your collective donation of $10,000 towards the purchase of protein. Your commitment to supporting the community means so much, especially for those who are struggling. When we receive donations from the community to help others, we see the best of our community.

This holiday season, we are doing all that we can to prepare to make it through the winter– the most difficult time of year for many. Currently our 9 member food banks are serving over 1,200 client visits per month. This fall, the Lindsay Community Food Market marked a new record, serving over 700 clients in one month. With nearly 15,000 total client visits to our member food banks by the end of November, we have already reached 109% of 2023’s year-end total.

Record-high food bank usage is being recorded across the province. This month, Feed Ontario released their annual Hunger Report with the staggering statistic that over one million Ontarians visited a food bank between April 2023 and March 2024. Too many of our neighbours simply can’t afford the cost of living. The affordability crisis continues to cause a growing gap between need for support and the resources available to our food banks.

As the number of those struggling continues to grow, support from our community in the fight against hunger is more impactful than ever before. We know that everyone feels the squeeze of an inflated cost of living and are so appreciative of your support during these difficult times. Truly every bit helps as the more people who support our work, the lighter the load becomes for everyone.

Your generous gift will allow us to continue serving individuals and families who need someone to lean on. Thank you for helping to feed our neighbours. Together, we can make sure everyone has enough to eat.

With Sincere Appreciation,

Erika Henry Donor Stewardship Coordinator

I wanted to say thank you to you and the 100 Men group for having me attend your meeting and providing $10 000 for kids to attend camp – this funding is going to help a lot of kids attend camp.

I also wanted to comment on just how great your group is and how organized and simple it is that you use the community foundation to help you execute.

Happy holidays to you, hope it is joyful and that you have a wonderful start to 2026!

Thanks,
